This simple and fun memory game consists of a magnetically attractive playing board that contains a scene of children wearing hats sitting around a table, and a large assortment of thick foam centered magnetic disks that have a picture of a wrapped gift box on one side and one of a variety of pairs of fun drawings of all sorts of hats.
The game starts with all the pieces on the board upside down and kids take turns turning over four pieces and keeping any matches and adding them to their stack of hats. Special pieces allow for stealing other players pieces and the player with the most pieces at the end of the game wins. Simple for even very young children to learn and yet fun for even an adult to play along with one or more children.
Recommended for 2-4 players ages 3+
Why is this product Pretty Cool?
Here is at least part of why we decided to rank the Hat Stackers Party Magnetic Memory Game as a Pretty Cool toy.
Simple, Easy to Learn Rules with a Challenge
Memory games in general are cool games to play. The rules are simple and easy to learn yet there is enough competition to make it fun and challenging. An ideal game for mixed age kids and fun to play with 2, 3, 4 or even more players. The Hat Stackers Party game is a particularly colorful and playful memory game that aims at matching pictures of a variety of hats ranging from professional to really silly.
Space Saving
As kids, our version of a memory game was to spread a deck of cards out over then entire kitchen table, our little arms struggling to reach the opposite side of the layout. Inevitably messing up the closest cards in the process; or even worse, knocking 1 or more cards off the table to land face up (as Murphy states it must always be). With the Hat Stackers Party Game you get all the fun and competition of any memory game in a standard game board size (about 16” x 16”) plus, the pieces stay in place much better than playing cards do!
Freedom - Game Pieces Stay In Place
Since the playing pieces are magnetized, unwanted movement is minimized. The pieces won't get messed up from a breeze or every slight bump or accidental brush of a shirt sleeve. Because of this feature you are not restricted to sitting at a table to play the Hat Stackers Party magnetized memory game. You could easily lounge on your favorite sofa in comfort after a long day AND spend time playing this game with your child. I could also see kids playing this game while sitting on their beds, or in the middle of a sea of sleeping bags at a slumber party. And, while it's larger than your typical travel game it would fit nicely between two kids in the back seat, while the pieces would stay in place during the bumps and turns of normal driving - a good way to pass the time on a long driving trip.
