Octopus Tag is a very active chasing game played with a group of players, either outside on a grassy lawn or in a large room such as an auditorium.
One player is selected to be IT and stands in the middle of the designated play area while the rest of the players line up at one end of the play area. When the person who is IT yells “Go” all other players run from one end of the play area to the other trying not to get tagged by IT. All players that get tagged stay to help the person who is IT for the next round. However, these new helpers must sit in one place and can only move their arms around to tag other players. The game is over when only one person remains untagged. This person is IT for the next game.
You can also play this game without restricting the helpers to sitting. See How To Play Hill Dill Tag.
