Having a home base is common in many chasing games. Typically home base is a safety zone for chased players and can be a front porch, a tree, a fence post, the dead patch in the lawn or anything else that makes sense in your yard or play area. The important thing is that all players agree on where home base is before you start your game. Typically there is some kind of time limit (official or unofficial) on how long or how often you can be at home base. In other words, you are not usually allowed to camp out at home base – what would be the fun.
