So this is an entry block in the blog. This is separate from the summary block of text that you see when you see the list of blog entries, this and subsequent blocks only appear on the full blog entry page. Each of these blocks can consist of text, an image, or both.
When using an image you can upload a thumbnail image and a full size image, if you upload both then the thumbnail will have a link to the full image. When you use an image with the text the image appears as a floating image in the text, or that is the way the current layout design is as of writing this, and if there is an image as the entirety of the block then the image appears centered. for example this block of text has a small image associated with it and a big image.

Update: The blog was absorbed into the larger article feature we are building so it no longer works the same way. Hmmmn, we seem to change such things a lot.
